A great trick to looking put together while you’re on the go is matching your shoes to your coat. Looking nice in the winter is hard when your a mom, There’s always these great intentions but then you have to bundle up and stay warm while you go outside and let your kids run around. I used to have these great outfits but then I would put on my coat and shoes and I would look like the same worn out mom every damn day. The other alternative is being cold and miserable. Winter is hard. Colors make it better. I like color but I tend to default to black. My favorite dark neutral color is Navy. Navy matches with everything and still stands out from the sea of black coats.
This coat is so thick and warm! The cropped puffer is popular this winter and I was due for a new one. Lucky for me I had a $45 in rewards at Express so it was free! Check out their short puffer they have an assortment of colors! I love my blue suede sneakers from Shein they are so fun. Both items are under $40!
A great way to freshen up your black coat is to add a new scarf. I am so so so sick of this Columbia coat but its black and its def not broken so I will never get rid of it. I have had it since my USGS days. Fun fact: I used to be a hydrologist for the United States federal government. It was a great experience but not what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Here’s a similar style to my Columbia coat. I added my keffiyeh scarf and it feels updated and fresh, especially with the sneakers. I have been on the hunt for an everyday black leather looking sneaker for winter and I found these great black K-Swiss sneakers on Amazon. The gold detail got me.
How do you stay fashionable but functional in the winter? Let me know!
