Sunday on Sandy Hook

There’s nothing we enjoy more than a winter beach day. We didn’t really have a plan for Sunday, kids are kinda sick… Sandy Hook is a long enough distance for a nap ride. So we drove out there and it was beautiful. 50 degrees and no wind.

We drove around and ended up at Horseshoe Cove, one of our favorites spots for shell hunting, rock skipping, and all around exploring.

It was a grey afternoon sky with pink in the distance.

As it got later the sky cleared up and it got bright for a moment.

I got these great action shots by accident. I held down the camera button thinking I was taking a video and I took like 30 pictures. Haha.

Sandy Hook is a peninsula located in the Raritan Bay facing Staten Island and Brooklyn. It has been formed by wave and tidal action over the last 1,000 years. It is a federal reserve and national park. Sandy Hook is home to public beaches, the Unites States Coast Guard, abandoned army barracks, a lighthouse, and many marine science and environmental schools and non-profit organizations. I took Geology and Oceanography there. Sandy Hook is a great place to spend the day if you are in New Jersey!
